LIFE LEGACY

Alberta Imogene Hamilton was born on June 25, 1925 in Ochlocknee, Georgia to Mr. George Robinson and Mrs. Ethell Robinson.  She was the second oldest child; her siblings preceded her in death.  On the evening of Thursday, November 29, 2012 the Lord gave Alberta her wings as she slept peacefully at home.

Alberta was married to Harrison Jackson, Jr. until his untimely death.  From this union three children were born.  Her son, Harrison Jackson, III, preceded her in death.  She was also married to Johnnie Dawson until his death.  She later married her high school sweetheart, Luffboro Hamilton, her husband for over thirty-seven years.

Alberta received her elementary and high school education in the Thomasville School District.  She later received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Albany State University and her Master's Degree in Education from Valdosta State University.

Alberta accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Ochlocknee Missionary Baptist Church.  She was a devoted and faithful member of Union Missionary Baptist Church in Camilla, Georgia for many years.  Alberta regularly attended Sunday morning service until her health would no longer allow.  It pleased Alberta's heart and soul to attend Sunday morning service, teach Sunday school and work with the children for the Easter and Christmas programs.  Alberta was often heard humming and singing hymns and gospel songs as she sat at home and cooked meals.  Up until her final moments, she could be heard speaking to the Lord and often said, "Well Lord, it's in your hands, may your will be done."

"Sugar", as she was affectionately called by her husband, Luffboro, taught in the Camilla Consolidated School district for well over forty years.  Alberta taught third grade and often shared fond memories of her students with her family and friends.  She enjoyed teaching so much that after retiring she went back to substitute teach.  Alberta touched the lives of many children and it was not unusual for the children, and at times, their children to stop her while she was around town to tell them about their lives and giver her a hug and kiss.

In addition, her other pleasures included cooking and reading the bible.  Alberta was one of the original members of the Les Douze Amies, French for the twelve (12) friends.

Alberta leaves to cherish her memory, a loving husband, Luffboro Hamilton of Camilla, Georgia; daughters, Rhunette Copher of Detroit, Michigan and Ethell Harriette Crawford of Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren, Paul (Adrian) Jackson of Newton, Georgia, Robert (Brooke) Copher, Stephanie (Glen) Palmer of Southfield, Michigan, Brandi Copher of New York, New York and Elliott Harrison Jackson of Atlanta, Georgia; three great grandchildren, Harison Copher, Sydney Copher of Southfield, Michigan, Elaejah Jackson of Inglewood, California; a nephew, George (Mary) Robinson of Detroit, Michigan; a niece, Gina (Al) Washburn of Suitland, Maryland; a cherished friend, Claretha Vicks of Camilla, Georgia; her caretakers, Dianna Spence, Juanita Claton, Debbie Vicks and Sandra Daniels of Camilla, Georgia; a host of friends and family.

Memorial

Weep not for me though I am gone;
into that gentle night.
Grieve if you will but not for long,
upon my soul's sweet flight.
I am at peace,
my soul's at rest.
There is no need for tears.
For with you love I was so blessed;
for all those many years.
There is no pain,
I suffer not,
The fear now is all gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts.
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath;
remember not the strife.
Please do not dwell upon my death,
but celebrate my life.

Love you always,

Alberta
