Obituary

The funeral service of Alma Lee Johnson Pate, will be conducted Saturday, January 3, 2009, at 3:00 p.m., at the Summerhill Missionary Baptist Church, 301 Love Street, Pelham. Reverend Maurice D. Ficklin will officiate. Interment will follow in Pelham Memorial Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons of Summerhill Missionary Baptist Church.

Active Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Mrs. Alma Lee Johnson Pace, daughter of the late Love Johnson and Bonnie Mae Johnson, was born November 20, 1919 in Mitchell County, Georgia. She confessed
CHRIST at an early age and became a member of the Summerhill Missionary Baptist Church of Pelham, Georgia, where she sang in the Senior Choir. She was also a member of the Pulpit Guild, the WOBAS Club, Amelia Chapter #14 Order of the Eastern Star,
where she worked faithfully until her health failed.

She enjoyed singing, playing computer games, and fellowshipping with her various auxiliaries.

Mrs. Pace received her education at the Mitchell County Training School and Albany State College, now known as Albany State University. She began her career as an educator in the school in the Lumber City and moved shortly afterwards to Mitchell County, where she retired after about thirty-four years of teaching in the system.

On December 17, 1943, she was united in marriage to Robert Pace, Sr., who preceded
her in death. They were the parents of five children.

Alma departed this life on Friday, December 26, 2008 at Mitchell County Hospital in Camilla, Georgia. She was preceded in death by one brother, Iva Johnson, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memories five sons: Robert I. (Brunetta) Pace, III, Almond Pace, Pastor Jerome (Sarah) Pace, all of Pelham, Georgia, George F. (Sybil) Pace, Sr. of Augusta, Georgia, and Raymond H. (Beverly) Pace, Sr. of Atlanta, Georgia; one loving
sister, Annie M. Brown of Miami, Florida; twenty-one grandchildren; forty-five great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Robert Jester Mortuary on Friday, January 2, 2009, at 6:00 p.m.
