Annie Doris Hicks Jackson was born on July 15, 1936 in Mitchell County, Georgia to C. T. "Cloe T." Hicks and Annie Lee Thomas Hicks. "Dot", as she was affectionately called, was the sibling of two sisters, Lucy and Mary, and one brother, George.
She received her education at the Camilla Consolidated School and was a member of the class of 1956.
Annie Doris confessed CHRIST at a very early age and joined the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully. She was blessed with the gift of song and utilized her God-given talent as a faithful member of the Senior Choir and also the Mass Choir. She also served in other auxiliaries at the church which included President of the Mission, Pastor's Aide, and Financial Secretary. She was a faithful member of the Camilla Baptist Association Union Meeting where she sang in the Women's Choir.
Annie Doris was united in Holy Matrimony to John Oscar Jackson with whom she spent sixty years. To this union six children were born. Annie Doris diligently cared for the needs of her family through her employment with RCM Enterprises, and as an exceptionally gifted and meticulous seamstress for many years.
In life, Annie Doris considered her family and friends to be among her most prized blessings, and delighted in bringing them together for various gatherings and functions. Her heart was full of love, compassion, praise, and adoration. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marion Jackson; a son, Aaron Jackson; siblings, Mary Bailey, George Hicks.
On Tuesday, December 29, 2020, she quietly transitioned to her eternal home at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida.
Those left to cherish her memories include three sons, Vernon (Virginia) Jackson of Camilla, Georgia, Oscar (Patricia) Jackson of Albany, Georgia, Orlando (Annie Doris) Jackson of Port St. John, Florida; one daughter, Beverly (Clifford) Silas of Camilla, Georgia; two grandchildren she reared, Kezian (Shekia) Jackson of Warner Robins, Georgia and Shemeka Silas of Albany, Georgia; a step-daughter, Betty Anderson of Camilla, Georgia; one sister, Lucy Taylor of Atlanta, Georgia; four brothers-in-law, Bennie (Annie Lois) Jackson and Arthel (Cyrethea) Jackson of Camilla, Georgia, Freddie C. McGregor of Miami, Florida, Eugene Bailey of Albany, Georgia; three sisters-in-law, Annie Mae Jackson and Gladys Hilbert of Camilla, Georgia, Estella Hicks of Albany, Georgia; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
