Annie "Louise" Lee was born on July 27, 1923 in Camilla, Georgia to the late Booker T. Washington and Eliza Hicks.  Her husband, Robert E. Lee, and son, William Albert Lee, preceded her in death.

After retiring from The Cloister in Sea Island, Georgia in 1985, Louise relocated to Aiken, South Carolina.  While there, she enjoyed many pastimes.

As a member of St. Mary Help of Christian Church, she participated in parish activities with her family.  She loved watching and attending football games, in particular the Iowa Hawkeyes and Seattle Seahawks.  Louise was incredibly fond of westerns and game shows.  She was an active member of the Smith Hazel Senior Citizens Group in Aiken, South Carolina.  There, she "took up" crocheting, creating arts and crafts, and dancing on the Christian Praise Dance team.  Additional, Louise was a community servant.  She served as Co-President of the resident council of Hahn Village.  Shortly thereafter, she was elected and served on the New Housing and Economic Development Board of Directors in 2002.

She is survived by two sons:  Bobby Washington of Charleston, South Carolina, and Robert E. Lee, Jr. (Alene) of Darien, Georgia; three daughters, Alene Washington of New York, New York, Corene "Linda" Washington of New Jersey, and Adrienne Lee Williams of North Augusta, South Carolina; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and one great-great-great granddaughter.

Funeral Lectionary:
Job 19:1, 23-27a

Job answered and said:

Oh, would that my words were written down!
Would that they were inscribed in a record:
That with an iron chisel and with lead
they were cut in the rock forever!

But as for me, I know that my Vindicator lives,
and that he will at last stand forth upon the dust;
Whom I myself shall see:
my own eyes, not another's, shall behold him,
And from my flesh I shall see God;
my inmost being is consumed with longing.
