Ashlyn Loretta Silas was the epitome of what a mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, good friend and Christian should be. Born June 28, 1968 in Camilla, Georgia, Ashley was granted her angel wings on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. Her final days were spent with family and friends that she had touched in some small way throughout her short, yet very memorable life.

Ashley confessed Christ and became a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Camilla, Georgia, under the leadership of Reverend Henry L. Flowers, Jr. At her church, she served in several capacities. Those included assistant director of the youth choir; a member of the Inspirational Choir; church facility coordinator; decorating committee; and an assistant Sunday School teacher.

Ashley was a graduate of Mitchell-Baker High School in Camilla, Georgia, in 1987.

Ashley gave to her family and friends such courage and hopes and reminded each of the preciousness of life. She loved to sing and cook. She could spend hours in assisting to prepare meals for not just family but friends as well. She enjoyed music and some of her favorite television shows.

You Never Said Goodbye

You never said I'm leaving
You never said goodbye.
You were gone before we knew it,
And only God knew why.

A million times we needed you,
A million times we cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.

In life we loved you dearly,
In death we love you still.
In our hearts you hold a place,
That no one could ever fill.

It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn't go alone
For part of us went with you,
The day God took you home.
