IN LOVING MEMORY OF
B. J.
Jones, Sr.
January 6, 1943 – September 2, 2023
B.J. Jones, Sr., born January 6, 1943, in Camilla, Georgia, was the eighth child of Deacon Buddie and Sister Leila Rhodes Jones. As the son of a farmer and teacher, B.J. learned at an early age to value God, family, education, work, and his community. As a child, B.J. gave his life to Christ and was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church. B.J. attended Camilla Consolidated High School and Monroe Area Vocational Technical School where he became a certified auto mechanic, July 19, 1963. B.J. spent much of his life's work as a mechanic but also raised livestock, worked as a farmhand, worked in the pulpwood industry, and owned a few businesses. He was an involved citizen who was well known throughout Mitchell County.
On Sunday, April 28, 1968, B.J. was united in holy matrimony with Annie Lee Saxon. The two established their home on Goodson Road and have lived there ever since. In June 2011, B.J. rededicated his life to the Lord and became a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church led by Pastor Jermaine King.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Cecil (Annie Ruth) Jones, Frank Jones, B.C. Jones, and B.F. Jones; two sisters, Odora Jones and Doretha Jones; and a granddaughter Johanna Abeni Jones. God the Father summoned his son B.J.
