Obituary

Barbara A. Williams was born December 12, 1960, in Mitchell County, Georgia to the late Annie Ruth Williams and William (Bill) Knight.  On Friday evening, May 20, 2022, "Barb's" earthly journey ended when The LORD called her home to rest.

She dedicated her life to CHRIST at an early age and joined membership with Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in Camilla, Georgia.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Ruby L. Pelham, and Betty J. Williams; and a brother, Tom G. Williams, Jr.; a special niece, Reketha Williams; and lastly, but definitely not least, her two FUR BABIES (she didn't like for them to be referred to as dogs) Krinkles M. Williams and Diamond G. Williams.

She graduated from Mitchell County High School, class of 1978.  She furthered her education at Georgia Southwestern College in Americus, Georgia where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.  She also received her Master's of Business Administration at Albany State College.

She became a member of Alpha Kappa Sorority, Inc. Nu Zeta Chapter in the Fall of 1980 on the campus of Georgia Southwestern College.  She was a member of the Initial Line, Shades of Jades, where she was of service to her campus and community.  She was a loyal dedicated member and loved her Sorors.

She worked for the State of Georgia for over 40 years and ultimately became Deputy Warden of Autry State Prison before taking a medical retirement.  She truly loved her job so much.

She leaves to cherish her memory, eight sisters, Ann Floyd of Youngstown, Ohio, Pearl (Tommy) Loyd of El Paso, Texas, Rose Horton of Detroit, Michigan, Helen Williams, Lila Stafford, Velma Scott of Camilla, Georgia, Leola (James) Robinson of Baconton, Georgia, Kathryn Sapp of Leesburg, Georgia; a beloved caregiver and bonus sister, Alleather Adams of Albany, Georgia; a special friend, Gloria Bush of Camilla, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Barbara was truly our family's Maya Angelo; she loved to write poems and tell jokes.
