a gentle spirit that left a lasting impression on all who knew him

Bennie Lee Jackson, born October 14, 1934, passed away on October 6, 2026, at his residence. His life was marked by faith, steady devotion to those he loved, and a gentle spirit that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Mr. Jackson was a faithful member of Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Usher Board. His commitment to his church reflected the kind of man he was: dependable, humble, and always willing to serve. He carried himself with quiet strength and a warm heart, and he was known as someone who always had a word for people.

He was united in marriage to the former Annie Jenkins, and together they shared sixty-two years of marriage. That enduring union stood as a beautiful testimony to love, loyalty, and commitment over a lifetime.

For more than fifty years, Bennie worked with Mr. C. M. Stripling, giving decades of faithful labor and dedication. He brought the same steady character to his work that he brought to every part of his life.

He also had a deep love for baseball. A great baseball player, he played second base and pitched for the Camilla Tigers. He loved the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team and found joy in the game throughout his life. Baseball was one of the many ways his energy, talent, and enthusiasm shone through.

Those who knew Bennie will remember him as a good man—kind, gentle, and deeply caring. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and a father to three sets of children - his children, his sister's children, and his niece. He had a great sense of humor and was the most laid-back person anyone could meet. He remembered everyone’s birthday, a small but meaningful reflection of how much people mattered to him. Though he did not finish high school, he had a great mind and could solve any equation, a gift that spoke to his intelligence and natural ability.

Bennie Lee Jackson leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, hard work, and kindness. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him, and his life will be remembered with gratitude and affection.

Funeral services will be held at Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 7470 River Road, Camilla, Georgia 31730.
