Bernice Wimberly, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and aunt, was born on April 9, 1937 in Mitchell County, Georgia, to the late Benjamin Jackson and Hurley Jackson.
She confessed Christ at an early age and united with the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. She later united with the Greater St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church.
She was educated at the Oak Grove School.
On September 3, 1955, she was united in marriage to James Wimberly, Sr., who preceded her in death.
She was employed with Watson's Restaurant from 1959-1979. She was also employed with Cagle's from 1973-2004.
Madea, as she was affectionately called, closed her eyes on Friday, May 15, 2015, at her home in Camilla, Georgia.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband included two brothers; two sisters; one granddaughter.
She leaves to cherish her memories, seven sons, James Wimberly, Jr. of Pelham, Georgia, William Wimberly of Albany, Georgia, Tommy (Gwen) Wimberly of Camilla, Georgia, Cecil Wimberly of Pelham, Georgia, Horris Wimberly of Freeport, Texas, Darryl (Bernice) Wimberly of Bainbridge, Georgia, Lee (Jennifer) Wallace of Camilla, Georgia; two daughters, Patricia (Paul) Davis, Sr. of Camilla, Georgia, Barbara Wallace of Pelham, Georgia; two brothers, Benjamin Jackson of Camilla, Georgia, Cornelius Jackson of Pelham, Georgia; seven sisters, Shirley Willingham of Pelham, Georgia, Leola McQueen of Pelham, Georgia, Bonnie (Robert) Sampson, Barbara (Charles) Crump, Sr., Geneva Emanuel, Helen Jackson, Tanzie (Walter) Burns of Camilla, Georgia; four brothers-in-law, Reverend Edgar (Toy) Wimberly of Queens, New York, Clemmie (Emma) Wimberly of Atlanta, Georgia, Lonnie Charles (Yong) Wimberly of Hephzibah, Georgia, Willie C. Sanders of Camilla, Georgia; three sisters-in-law, Eddie Mae Smith, Rosa Lee Childs of Camilla, Georgia, Dorothy Sanders of Baconton, Georgia; two aunts, Katie Vicks of Camilla, Georgia, Christine King of Union City, Michigan; twenty-six grandchildren; forty-six great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
