Obituary

The funeral service of Betty J. Williams, will be conducted Saturday, June 6, 2009, at 1:00 p.m., at the Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, 331 Peachtree Street, Camilla. Dr. Joe R. Thomas will officiate. Interment will follow in the St. Mary Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Alex Carter, Rodney Childs, Anthony Donaldson, Eric Gervin, Terrence King, Nick Nickerson, Edgar Pelham, Kerry Ross, Andre Simmons.

Betty J. Williams was born January 6, 1942 in Mitchell County, Georgia, to the union of Annie Ruth Williams and the late Tom G. Williams, Sr.

She was baptized at an early age at the Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in Camilla, Georgia where she served faithfully until her health failed.

She was employed at the Mitchell County Hospital in the Dietary Department for over thirty years. She also enjoyed her years of employment at the Camilla Retirement Center. Her gently and sweet spirit made her a delight to be in her presence. She truly enjoyed her work because it was a delight for her to serve others. She loved her children and worked diligently and faithfully on her jobs to provide for them. She believed in being on time for work.

On Tuesday morning, June 2, 2009, Betty's earthly journey ended when the Lord called her home to rest.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Roy E. Williams, Sr. of Camilla, Georgia; her mother, Annie Ruth Williams of Camilla, Georgia; two daughters, Glennette Ross of Camilla, Georgia, Sandra (Rodney) Cooper of Gainesville, Florida; one grandson, Torry Ross of McComb, Mississippi; stepchildren, Roy E. Williams, Jr., Dorothy L. Banks of Camilla, Georgia, Bobbie (Ulysses) Wimberly of Atlanta, Georgia, Sanya W. Jackson of Camilla, Georgia; six step-grandchildren, Latonya, Roy, III, Alex, Sanya, Kenya, Angela; nine sisters, Ann Floyd of Youngstown, Ohio, Pearl (Tommy) Loyd of El Paso, Texas, Rosa Horton of Detroit, Michigan, Helen Williams, Lila (Charlie) Stafford, Velma Scott of Camilla, Georgia, Leola (James) Robinson, Kathryn (Alvin) Sapp of Baconton, Georgia, Barbara Williams of Albany, Georgia; one sister, Ruby L. Pelham, preceded her in death; one brother, Tom G. Williams, preceded her in death; an aunt, Cairo Williams of Youngstown, Ohio; four brothers-in-law, Edgar Pelham, Johnny Williams of Albany, Georgia, Frank Williams, Jr. of Camilla, Georgia, Cecil Williams of Los, Angeles, California; two sisters-in-law, Ella Williams, Eloise Blocker of Camilla, Georgia; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
