Obituary

Catherine Jackson Threatts was born on August 12, 1948 in Camilla, Georgia to the union of Addie L. Sanders and Rueben Jackson.

She joined the St. James Missionary Baptist Church at a very early age and remained a devoted member until her death.

Her early childhood education was received at the Dent-Reynolds Elementary School in Baconton, Georgia.  After elementary school she attended the Camilla Consolidated High School in Camilla, Georgia and graduated in 1966.  While a student at CCS, she was a member of the basketball team and the track team.

In 1977, she was joined in holy matrimony to Johnny James Threatts.  To this union, one daughter was born, Cassandra.

She was employed by the Nut Tree Pecan Company for many, many years and remained there until the company closed.  She was also a devoted caregiver to the late Ann Bonser of Baconton, Georgia.

"Cat", as she was affectionately known, was a person who loved her family and she was loved by everyone who knew her.  She never met a stranger.  Basketball was her favorite sport and the Mitchell County Eagles was her favorite team.  During basketball season and at all home games, you could find her sitting in her favorite spot with her sidekicks:  her grandson, DeQuarius (Tunk Tunk); Tony "Block" McKinney and George and Alelia Jenkins.  She would also travel to as many out of town games, if not all of them, with her brother and sister, Johnny and Audrey, and her cousin, Rosa Carter.  She was an avid basketball fan!!  If you wanted a good home cooked meal, all roads led to Cat's house.  She was always preparing meals for her family as well as her friends and it was always done with love.  She loved spending time with her high school classmates.  It is safe to say that she was the spirit of the Class of 1966 who always cheered them on with a joke and a laugh.

She departed this life on March 2, 2015 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Camilla, Georgia.

She leaves to cherish her memories; two children, Ulysses Lambert, Jr. of Camilla, Georgia and Cassandra D. Threatts of Baconton, Georgia; three brothers, Emmett (Elizabeth) Williams and Johnny (Betty) Jackson of Baconton, Georgia, Sidney Stevens Wallace of Albany, Georgia; two sisters, Linda D. Oliver of Albany, Georgia and Audrey L. Wallace of Baconton, Georgia; six grandchildren, Kawardis Lambert, Javauris Lambert, Ulysses Lambert, III, Kendrick Lambert, DeAmbria Gilbert and DeQuarius Gilbert; eight great grandchildren; aunts, Mary L. Daniels and Willie Pearl Chandler of Baconton, Georgia, Ella Flanders of Bainbridge, Georgia, Bertha Washington of Tampa, Florida; uncles, J. C. (Helen) Sanders of Bainbridge, Georgia, Cleveland (Helen) Sanders of Colquitt, Georgia, Charles Sanders of Newark, New Jersey; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Our Mother

To know her was to love her.  No one has the opportunity
to choose their own mother but we are so thankful  to
God that he chose you to be our mother.  You, not only
were our mother, but you became our very best friend.

We could tell you all our secrets, things we dared not to
share elsewhere, because we knew that it would always
remain "our" secret.  Only a mother like you could be that
kind of friend.

Many times we called, just to hear your sweet, loving
voice, and to hear you say, Momma loves you.

All that is gone now, but we have all the memories of our
times together.

We shall treasure them until we meet again in heaven,
never again to part.

Today, we grieve for your presence, but God is giving
strength.

And mother, dear Mother, we are so grateful that we
could be your children.

Mother, You were just another name for "Love".

Your Children,
Ulysees, Jr. and Cassandra
