On Friday, June 5, 2026, our hearts were deeply saddened by the unexpected and untimely passing of our loved one, Mr. Charles Patrick West.

Charles was born on September 19, 1972, to Mr. George Lee West and Mrs. Lawson Willingham West. Charles attended the Mitchell County school system, graduating in1990 from Mitchell-Baker High School. After graduation, Charles attended Albany State University (then College), graduating in 1994 with a degree in mathematics. While at Albany State, Charles also joined Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, a milestone he was extremely proud of.

After graduating from Albany State, Charles moved to Smyrna, Georgia, where he began his professional career at World Span. World Span was later acquired by Delta Air Lines, and Charles spent 25 years as a programming specialist at the company. In 2022, Charles left Delta Air Lines and joined Visa, where he was employed at the time of his passing.

Charles was a tall man with a commanding presence and a gentle spirit. He loved his family and friends. He would help anyone in need without hesitation. His love and kindness will be missed by so many.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, Mr. George Lee West; his mother, Mrs. Lawson Willingham West Burns; and his uncle, Mr. Clarence Willingham.

He leaves behind two sisters, Dr. Shauna Mayo (John, Sr.) of South Chesterfield, VA, and Melissa Keaton of Camilla, to cherish his memory. He leaves two nieces, Kamishia Monique Jackson of Petersburg and Ebonie Vera Simpson of New York, NY. Charles also leaves two devoted friends, Mr. Donell Kilgore of Marietta, GA, and Mr. Miles Warren of Seattle, WA. In addition, he leaves many family members, friends, and colleagues to cherish his memory.

Charles’ wish was to be cremated, and that has been honored. However, a memorial service is being planned for a later date.
