Obituary

The funeral service of Curtis Nelson, will be conducted Thursday, July 16, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 3370 Georgia Highway 97, Camilla. Reverend Michael Chapman will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Corey Silas, Calvin Stewart, Daniel Stewart, Grover Stewart, Kyron Stewart, Phillip Stewart, Derrick White, Robert Williams.

Curtis Nelson, son of Ceola Nelson and the late C. T. Nelson, was born February 26, 1955 in Mitchell County, Georgia.

At an early age he accepted Christ and joined the St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life he joined the Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church of Albany, Georgia.

Affectionately known as "Bo" and "Tater", Curtis was united in Holy Matrimony to Francis Stewart on September 28, 1976. To this union two children were born.

Curtis was a loving and caring father, husband, grandfather, and friend.

On Sunday, July 12, 2009, Curtis received his heavenly calling.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a wife, Francis Nelson of Albany, Georgia; his mother, Ceola Nelson of Camilla, Georgia; two daughters, Cassenda Nelson and Comequiza Nelson of Albany, Georgia; grandchildren, Zircasian Nelson, Isis Nelson, Kendrick Clayton, Jr. of Albany, Georgia; godchildren, Tavis Stokes, Sam Hall, LaPorsha Shumate, Jeremy Boone, Corey Warren of Albany, Georgia; sisters, Edith (Harbert) Stewart, Catherine (Sonny) Jefferson, Rosa (Willie) Mobley, Charlene (Matthew) Jackson, Virginia (Norman) Shelton, Delois (Larry) Graddick, Regina (Roy) Alimilla, Elaine Nelson of Camilla, Georgia, Gail (Arthur) Wheeler of Chicago, Illinois; brothers, C. N. (Mary) Nelson of Camilla, Georgia, Roosevelt (Mary) Nelson of Texas; sisters-in-law, Mamie Childs, Sharon Stewart of Camilla, Georgia, Brenda (Lawrence) Williams of Alabama; brothers-in-law, Calvin Stewart, Marty Stewart, Jim Stewart of Camilla, Georgia; two brothers preceded him in death; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
