Mr. Darryl R. Hicks, Sr. was born February 17, 1951 to Mrs. Inez Slater Hicks and the late Robert L. Hicks. He was the only child born to this wedlock.

Darryl graduated from the Camilla Consolidated High School aka CCS High School in 1968. He attended Knoxville College in Knoxville, Tennnessee where he earned his Bachelors degree in Psychology. He went on to earn his Masters degree in Psychology from Albany State College (now University).

He confessed CHRIST and joined the Union Missionary Baptist Church.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Janice C. Davis. To this union three children were born.

He retired as a psycho-educational teacher with the Dougherty County Board of Education.

On Saturday, April 17, 2010, in Camilla, Georgia, Darryl departed this life at his mother's home with his family and friends nearby.

He leaves behind his life partner and devoted wife, Janice Hicks of Camilla, Georgia; four loving children, Darryl R. Hicks, Jr., Phyllis I. Hicks, Ryan J. Hicks, Torreance Burns of Atlanta, Georgia; mother, Inez Hicks of Camilla, Georgia; two aunts, Agnes Quaterman of Allenhurst, Georgia, Lizzie Mae Poon of Camilla, Georgia; mother-in-law, Ophelia Davis of Camilla, Georgia; six sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; four grandchildren.

Preceding him in death included a daughter, Carol R. Bostick.

He will forever be loved and cherished by his host of cousins, nieces, nephews, good neighbor Brandon Smith, and friends.
