Deacon Edison
Williams, Sr.
September 21, 1934 – March 14, 2024
Deacon Edison Williams, Sr. was born September 21, 1934, in Camilla, Georgia. He was the 2nd child born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Aaron (Mittie C.) Williams. He was preceded in death by one sister, Grace Williams and three brothers, Forest G. Williams, Aaron Williams, Jr., and Calvin Williams.
Edison received his education at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He accepted Jesus as his personal savior and became a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Mitchell County Georgia under the leadership of the late Rev. Spock. Edison asked the late Deacon Roscoe Jack Bullard (Mittie) to marry his daughter, the love of his life Mary L. Bullard. The marriage took place on February 25, 1961 (63 years) in Camilla, Georgia. After a few years of hard labor on the farms and working at The Royal Poultry Company, he decided to relocate his family to Miami Florida for a better way of life.
As years passed by, Edison rededicated his life to the Lord. He joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Homestead, Florida under the leadership of the late Rev. McGriff in the early 70s. Years later under new leadership, the Rev. L.R. Ross (Father figure and mentor) ordained Edison into the Deacon Ministry. Years have passed since his ordination and new leadership emerge at Shiloh. Edison's new Pastor/Brother/Friend Rev. Jonathan Howard. Under Rev. Howard's Leadership Edison matured as a Deacon servant, leading in hymns, devotion, and stewardship.
Deacon Edison Williams was a LOYAL Deacon and Friend/Brother and one of the founding members of Agape Faith Ministries under the Leadership of the late Rev. Jonathan Howard for over 30 years. His mantra was "Keep Living". His love for Ministers' was unmatched. He would not in any circumstances say anything negative or ill willed about any Pastor/Minister, his words, "God hired them, and God will do the firing, keep your mouth off of God's chosen."
Edison worked for the Miami Dade County Waste Department for 23 years before retirement. "The County" is what he affectionately called his job and where he met his forever co-worker Willie Warren aka "Willie Won".
On March 14, 2014, Edison transitioned to eternal rest with the Lord. In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Minister Donna Mitchell and Elder LaTina Jones.
He leaves to cherish his memories: His devoted wife: Mary L. Williams, Miami Florida; children: Sonya Joyner (Phillip) Conyers, Georgia, Karon Williams-Henrice (Jean) Miami, Florida, Edison Williams, Jr. (Sheila) Grayson, Georgia, Carmel Williams, Miami, Florida; sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; siblings: J.W. Williams and Annie Bell Eady of Camilla, Georgia, Alton Williams (Cathy) of Miami, Florida, Joyce L. Kearsley of Anchorage, Alaska; in Laws, Johnnie Mae Williams, Joanna Williams, and Ann Williams, Geneva Collier, Exa Bowen, Johnnie Mae Jackson (Walter), Pauline Bullard-Moore, Ruth Ann Wright and Marvin Bullard; one Aunt: Elsie Jackson (Alfred); special Cousin: Ms. Beverly Hall, special neighbor and relative: Laroxsha Williams, many nieces and nephews, other relatives, godchildren, and friends.
