IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Derrick
Collier
October 2, 1978 – May 28, 2022
On October 2,1978, God blessed Zelda Collier with a precious beautiful gift, Derrick Darell Collier. Derrick was the apple in his mother's eye and she was his favorite lady. After suffering several months with complications from open heart surgery, the LORD called him to rest on Saturday morning, May 28, 2022.
Derrick accepted and dedicated his life to CHRIST at an early age and joined the Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church in Camilla Georgia under the leadership of Rev W.R. Jenkins. He was active in several church ministries: Sunday School, Men in Action (MIA), Junior Ushers, Vacation Bible School and the Men's Choir.
He was a graduate in the Mitchell Baker High School Class of 1997. He furthered his education at Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, Georgia and Georgia Medical Institute Class of 2002, Atlanta Georgia as a honor graduate in Patient Care Technician. In 2013, he attended Albany Technical College and acquired his Commercial Driver License.
Derrick's love for life was evident by the way he lived. He liked the finer things in life and enjoyed sharing those things with others. His love for fine foods was reflected in the delicious meals he prepared for family and friends. He lived by his grandparent's mantra, 'ALWAYS GIVE BACK.' He considered it a privilege to help someone in need. He was a master chef and a grill master. He didn't have much to give, but he knew a delicious meal would bring joy and lift spirits. He prepared many meals and distributed them within the community. His cooking ministry and positive attitude allowed him to meet many people. He was also a jokester and loved to make people laugh or smile. He never met a stranger and had a way of making a person feel that they were the most important person on earth.
Derricks love was reflected in the support he provided. He worked silently in the background to ensure family and friends were successful. He made many sacrifices to be available whenever needed to provide support. He was a loving father to his daughter, Justice Christina Collier and bonus son, Braylen Leon Barnes. He always provided words of encouragement to be honest and do your best in all endeavors.
He is preceded in death by nurturing grandparents, Mr. Clemmie Lee and Mrs. Christine Collier, sister- Shabreka Arline; uncle- Mr. Clemmie Levert Collier; and cousins Corey Wimes and Varshikka Collier.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by his mother, Zelda Collier of Camilla, Georgia; a daughter, Justice Christina Collier of Camilla, Georgia; bonus son, Braylen Leon Barnes of Camilla, Georgia; loving and supporting life partner, Abrianna Barnes of Camilla, Georgia; brothers, David Arline Jr. (Marantina) of Pelham, Georgia, Trentavious Arline of Pelham Georgia, Dontavious Arline of Warner Robins, Georgia, Richardo Mitchell (Takiela) of Thomasville, Georgia; sisters, Davida Arline (Frank) of Warner Robins, Georgia, Renata Mitchell of Thomasville, Georgia; aunts, Geralyn Haynes (Matthew) of Summerville, South Carolina, Annie Pearl Arline, Camilla, Georgia; uncles, Raymond Collier of Atlanta, Georgia, Earl Collier (CuShena) of Camilla, Georgia; other relatives and friends; three bonus brothers, Artie C.
