On Friday, January 12, 2024, Dolores Callie Powell Leon (affectionately called "Doll") entered eternal rest. Born to the late Jack and Sally Davis Powell of Camilla, Georgia, and a family of ten children-Troy, Robert, Ponce, Gene, Arthur, and four other siblings who passed in early childhood- Dolores is the last survivor of her siblings.

After childhood, Dolores made New York City her home. During her time there, she became very involved in her beloved community. She was very active in the civic, social, and political affairs in her Harlem community, West 123 rd Street. She became a voice for many. She helped numerous mothers in rearing their families. She was one of the founders of The West 123rd Street Community Garden. Dolores loved music, dancing, shopping and gardening. In her later years, as her health begin to decline, Dolores came to College Park, Georgia to live with her son Warren (deceased) and his family.

Dolores was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Leon and (Rev) Warren S. Leon. Dolores is lovingly remembered by her son, Alvin C. Leon; daughter-in-law, Marjorie H. Leon; three granddaughters, Adjua Ferguson (John), Adrienne N. Leon and Alison N. Leon; three great-granddaughters, Kyla Leon, Priah Ferguson and Jayda Ferguson; a devoted nephew and wife, Robert and Rosalyn Powell; Godson Lamont Alston; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, and her beloved West 123rd Street Family and Friends in Harlem, New York. Friends of love and care include the North Wing staff of Riverdale Health and Healing Center, Riverdale, Georgia.
