IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy
Lyons
November 21, 1937 – April 10, 2025
Born to eternal life on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the age of 87 years surrounded by her loving family, Dorothy "Dot" Jean Lyons, a virtuous, cherished, honored, caring, loving, unselfish, and humorous vessel of God transitioned into the waiting arms of Jesus. Her Genesis into this earthly realm was on November 21, 1937 to the parentage of Mrs. Jessie Lundy and Mr. Nelson Robinson, Jr. in Baconton, Georgia. Dot, as she was affectionately known, lived a life filled with strong Christian convictions, tremendous passion, integrity, character, and servitude to others. She was well known for her comforting presence and wise counsel.
Dot, a faithful servant of God, married the love of her life, Jimmy Lee Lyons in 1968. They shared an unbreakable bond of love for each other, love for Jesus Christ, mutual respect, support, and bountiful marital bliss for 54 years until he transitioned February 8, 2022. Together Jim and Dot built a fortified Christ-centered home filled with love, wisdom, discipline, morals, laughter, and delicious home cooked meals. We will never forget those scrumptious sweet potato pies that would put a smile on everyone's face.
As her infectious bond of stability and strength grew with her husband, so did her family. She was a very devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, great grandmother, sibling, aunt, niece, loyal friend, and confidant and door opener. Her life was a testament of her faith, her generous spirit, and her unwavering love for others. She was preceded in earthly transition by her husband, Jimmy Lee Lyons, daughter, Belinda J. Preston, and other siblings.
Dot was a loyal disciple of the Body of Christ and a dedicated member of Christian Life Fellowship Church in Baconton, Georgia where she saw countless souls surrender their lives to Jesus and where she served joyfully in various ministries. She was often found lending a helping hand wherever one was needed. Dot's footsteps were guided by the pure Word of God and she was unashamed to share the gospel with anyone she came in contact with.
She leaves her legacy of love with her loving children, Cynthia (Wilbert) Jones-Owens, Eric Lyons (Nekia); her beloved grandchildren, Octvious Jones, Kaysha Jones, Kumoski Whitlock, Dusinal Whitlock, Louis (Jacquelyn) Jones, Dorothy Whitlock, Sedric Jone, Erica Lyons and London Lyons; her spirited great grandchildren and host of other family members.
Her lord said unto her, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."
