Dorothy Jean Ross, a cherished matriarch and a beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt, was born to the late Earnest Bell, Sr. and Lillie Pearl Williams-Bell on February 26, 1949 in Mitchell County, Georgia.
At an early age she confessed CHRIST and joined St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church. As a member of Saint Mary, Dorothy found strength and community through her faith. She embodied the values of compassion and support that her church espoused, further reflecting the kind-hearted nature that was her hallmark.
An alumna of Camilla Consolidated High School, Dorothy cherished her educational experiences, carrying the values she gained throughout her life. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, creating lasting memories that will be treasured by her loved ones.
“Dot”, as she was affectionately called, dedicated over forty years of her life to her career at Tyson Foods, where she became known for her hard work and dedication. Beyond her professional life, she was also a devoted caretaker, embodying kindness and compassion in all her interactions. Her warm and welcoming personality made her a source of comfort and reassurance for those around her, always ensuring that others felt at ease in her presence.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Bonaparte, Lucile Bell and Rosa Lee Bell Johnson-Marcus, Linda Amos; six brothers, Eddie J. Bell, Willie Frank Davis, Henry Bell, Lonzie Bell, Earnest Bell, Jr., and Robert Lewis Bell.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two children, Valerie (Johnny) Mobley, Bernard (Mary) Ross; grandchildren, Johnny Jr., Chelsie (Bernard), Javarius, Kiara, Bernard, Jr., Torian, Aaron, Kedrian, Jashean great grandchildren, Amiylah, Serena, Jamond, Brook, Bailey, Bryson, Blaze, Alayah, Ariah, Blair; one great grandchild - on the way, Jalani Vicks; godson, Anthony Carter; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth Bell, Johnnie Mae Ross, Sakita Ross, R. J. (Annie) Ross, Henry (Tracy) Ross, Douglas Ross of Camilla, Georgia, Taammeron Ross of Mississippi; friends, Bertha Hines, Easter Chester, Gwen Wimberly, Dianne Bennett; nieces, and nephews who will carry on her legacy of love and kindness.
As we remember Dorothy Jean Ross, we honor her life of service to her family and community, her warm spirit that touched the lives of many, and her unwavering love for those she held dear. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
