Earnest Fluellen, affectionately known as “Flu” passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026, at his residence. He was born on April 1, 1953, in Camilla, Georgia to the late Wille Fluellen and Amy Fluellen. Two brothers, Jimmy Lee Bryant and Willie Fluellen, Jr. preceded him in death.
Earnest was known in the community for his sense of humor, barbecuing, and love for fun and family. No one was ever around Flu and not laughing. No matter your state of mind, he was going to make you laugh.
He was a proud participant of Mitchell County High School Class of 1972, in which he looked forward to grilling and having fun at the Alumni weekends. His work career began with Georgia Department of Transportation, where he worked well over 20 years. He also worked at Cagles, however, his favorite before retiring was being a custodian at Mitchell County High School. He loved the kids and staff and they were fond of him as well.
Earnest was a member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he did not mind being a witness to the Word and singing in the choir, matter of fact, he would sing with any church choir who needed an extra voice.
Earnest leave to cherish his memories, his loving wife Mercedes Fluellen; four daughters, Santrina Fluellen, Katelia Stubbs, Patronia Fluellen, and Brittany Jess; three stepchildren, Steven (Bridgette) Calloway, Stephaine (Rickey) Hughes and Ronaldo Clayton; three sisters, Susie Williams, Rutha Mae Brown, and Ollie (Ulysse) Burley; two brothers, Henderson “Sonny” Fluellen and Ira Fluellen; seven sisters-in-law and two brother-in-law. Grandchildren: D’Travion, Cameron, Janae, Jermaine Jr., Tytiana, Trantaveas Jr., Ambrielle, Lyric, Kashton, Connell Jr., Kajayvia, Roshunda, Vontrelle, Vaniya, Vontrey; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
