The graveside funeral service of Edgar K. Warren, Sr., will be conducted Monday, December 22, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Grove A.M.E. Church Cemetery in Camilla.
Edgar K. Warren, Sr., the second child of the late Joseph and Henrietta Warren was born January 14, 1929 in Pelham, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Gray and two brothers, James C. Warren and Joseph Warren. At a very early age the family moved to Orlando, Florida where he completed elementary and high school. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Orlando, Florida. He graduated from Albany State College in Albany, Georgia. He served in the United States Marine Corps where he was honorably discharged as a decorated veteran.
He began his employment with the Atlanta Board of Education in physical education at Howard High School. He also accepted part time employment with the Atlanta Braves Baseball Association.
Edgar Warren was united in holy matrimony to the former Dorothy Alexander in 1954. This union was blessed with three children.
His memory will be forever honored and cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Dorothy Warren; one daughter, Gina (Staphone) Williams of Atlanta, Georgia; two sons, Edgar, Jr. (Linda) Warren of Orlando, Florida, and Dexter (Felecia) Warren of Lithonia, Georgia; one sister, Deloris (Ronald) Yant of Apopka, Florida; one brother, McDaniel Warren of Orlando, Florida; four sisters-in-law, Vera L. Jackson of Miami, Florida, Ruth A. Peoples of Detroit, Michigan, Phenia J. Sheffield of Tampa, Florida, Mary Alexander of Tampa, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
