IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Edythe Yvonne Bradley

Family and Friends will gather on Saturday, December 1, 2012, to praise God and honor the life of Edythe Yvonne Bradley.  Her life's journey began on Wednesday, December 15, 1965 in Mitchell County and ended peacefully on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at John D. Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Georgia.  She was the daughter of Marvene Jenkins Bradley and the late John L. Bradley.

Edythe confessed Christ at an early age and joined Saint Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church in Camilla, Georgia where she served as church reporter, a chairperson of many programs, creator and publisher of The Good News Messenger Church Newsletter and member of the Estell Jester Social Church Club.

Educated in the public schools of Mitchell County and a 1983 graduate of Mitchell-Baker High School, Edythe furthered her education at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Public Relations in 1988.  During her college career, she worked with The FAMUAN student newspaper and was a member of the Society of Professional Journalist/Sigma Delta Chi and the Public Relations Student Society of America.

After completing her education, Edythe began her career as a news reporter for the Camilla Enterprise.  She covered numerous events in the community and brought the activities to life through her creative writing skills.  Her desire to broaden her career led her to Albany State University in 1993, where she began working in the public relations department.  In 1997, Edythe became the university's first woman Sports Information Director and became the second female SID in Albany State's conference.  She was a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America, the Black College Sports Information Directors Association and served as SID chairman for ASU's conference.  This "SIDiva", which she dubbed herself, worked numerous hours and went above and beyond to make sure the students and Athletic Department of ASU received worldwide recognition.  In addition to her duties at ASU, Edythe was also the statistician for the Albany Panthers football team.  Her love for her job was evident, admired and incomparable.

Edythe's journey into motherhood began when she gave birth to her pride and joy, Morgan Chelsea.  They were each other's inspiration which made them complete.  She extended her nurturing ways to her nieces and nephews.  She was helping to raise them and always taught them to be the best they could be.  "Eya" was the official babysitter and the light of their lives.

Affectionately known as "Sunshine," Edythe loved life and always put her family first.  She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, mentor and, most importantly, a helpful friend to all.  She was a ray of sunshine to everyone through her talents, work ethic, outstanding and unselfish devotion to others.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a beautiful daughter, Morgan Chelsea Dunlap; a devoted mother, Marvene Jenkins Bradley; a brother, John Michael Bradley of Camilla, Georgia; four sisters, Joan M. Bradley of Lithonia, Georgia, Jennifer M. Bradley, Donna Bradley Johnson and Karen Bradley Murray, all of Camilla, Georgia; two brothers-in-law, Bruce Johnson and William Murray; eleven nieces and nephews, John Michael II, Briani Alicia-Jean and Cecelia Dawn Bradley, Ja'Marcus Hopkins, Bradleigh Bena' and Jackson Allen Johnson, and Karsen Alyse, Kamille Addysen, William Kaden, Kassidy, Adalyn and Winston Kaine Murray.  She also leaves two aunts and uncles, Timothy Earl Jenkins and Lure Maxine Jenkins, and Ruth B. and Frank Solomon.

Her life will be remembered by a host of cousins and extended members of the Bradley, Reddick, Jenkins and Catchings families, and countless friends.

Edythe is now resting peacefully in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  She has met her Heavenly Father and is rejoicing with her earthly father.

TRIBUTE

A million will miss you
And a million will cry
If our love alone would have saved you
You never would have died.

In life, we loved you dearly
In death we love you still;
In our heart you hold a place
No other one can fill.

The Golden gates stand open
God saw you needed rest;
God's garden must be beautiful
For He always picks the best.
