Birth: Emanuel Jester, son of Lillian Jester and Fred Hill, was born February 15, 1931 in Camilla, Georgia.
Education: Emanuel was educated in the Mitchell County School System, and he graduated from Rockdale School in Camilla, Georgia in 1949. He went on to later enlist in the United States Army. After serving in the army, he sought employment with General Service Administration, where he worked for 34 years and retired in 1994 and LJS, Inc. Commercial Cleaning until 2017.
Religion: He confessed Christ at an early age in life and later joined Second Bethesda Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, where he was an active member. He sang in the choir and enjoyed many lifelong friendships that were made during that time.
Character: Emanuel was affectionately known as "Boll Weevil" by relatives and close friends. He was a kind and generous individual and was a joy to all. He enjoyed spending Saturdays with his wife and grandchildren listening to records, playing Solitaire and Spades, teaching Math facts, and shopping for Saturday dinner. In addition, he was an active member of Harriet G. Darnell Senior Facility, where he enjoyed exercising and weight lifting. This is where he shared his passion for helping with the "old people".
Union: He married the love of his life, Shirley Wright, on March 3, 1962, as he gave love a second try. Through this union they enjoyed a fruitful 57 years of marriage filled with love and laughter.
Sunset: Emanuel transitioned from this earthly life on October 3, 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Awaiting His Arrival: He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Lucy Jester; mother, Lilian Jester Peoples; father, Fred Hill; uncle, Alfred Jester; brother, Henry Peoples, Jr.; daughter, Kathleen; and son, Wayne.
Cherished Memories: He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Shirley Jester; five daughters: Evelyn (Danny) Hayes, Cynthia (Lester, Jr.) Young, Viva Jester, Carlametress (William) Harrell, Shinelle (Eric) Henderson; four sons: Emanuel (Shirley) Jr., Larry Jester, Damon Jester, and Phillip (Shaniece) Favors; seven very special cousins: Alfa Lee Dawson, Earnestine Norwood and William (Naomi) Carroll of Camilla, Georgia, Dan Jester of Meigs, Georgia, Lucy Bell Williams of Pennsylvania, Marion Hills, of Belle Glade, Florida, Arthur Eugene Jester of Kansas City, Kansas; two brothers-in-law, Havel (Pactia) Wright, Sr. and Walter (Marie) Wright. He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and relatives and friends.
