Eugene (Gene) Martin was born March 1, 1947 to the late George W. Martin and Mary Lizzie Martin in Decatur County, Bainbridge, Georgia.

He received his education in the Mitchell County School System.

He was self-employed as a dedicated mechanic for many years until he retired.  Working on vehicles was his passion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Martin; four sisters, Fannie Mae Johnson, Lottie Ann Williams, Barbara Ann Martin, Debra Jean Jefferson; and a very close friend, Willie C. Jenkins (Paul).

He departed this life on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Bainbridge Health and Rehab Nursing Home.

He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Teresa Martin-Lewis of Atlanta, Georgia, Meleeka Martin of Deerfield Beach, Florida; two grandchildren, Jaylen Jones and Alexia Lewis; one great-grand, Jaylen Jones, Jr.; two sisters, Jeraldine Peoples of Quincy, Florida, Rossie Zaragoza (Francisco) of Atlanta, Georgia; three brothers, Jerry (Mary) Martin of Camilla, Georgia, Willie Mack Martin of Bainbridge, Georgia, and Carl (Sonia) Martin of Albany, Georgia; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
