Our beloved, Evelyn Jean Zapata McGhee, affectionately known to those close to her as 'Jean', was born to the parentage of Thomas Kearney and Lillie Mae Henry Kearney, on June 26, 1953 in Sebring, Florida. The family moved to Syracuse, New York where she attended elementary and junior high school. Later the family returned to South Florida, and Jean completed her education at Fort Lauderdale High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After graduating she was employed by the Broward County School Board as a bus operator. She earned her Doctorate Degree in Special Education and taught in the Dade County and State of Georgia School System.
At an early age Jean met and married Henry Jordan, and to that union five children were born. Some years later she met Hector Zapata and they were married on March 3, 2000 and remained until his death in 2015. Jean made her final earthly love connection as she joined in marriage to Gregory McGhee on January 21, 2016.
Jean anchored her faith in God, and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age, and was affiliated with Church until her death. After retirement, Jean enjoyed traveling and engaging in the studying of God's Word. On Sunday, March 13, 2016, Jean went into cardiac arrest and after a short fight for her life she surrendered to her Master's call on March 17, 2016 and now rest from her earthly labors. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Lillie Kearney.
Loving and lasting fond memories of Jean's life will be remembered by her husband, Greg McGhee of Sale City, Georgia; her father, Thomas Kearney of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; her children, Tonya Jordan, Jason Jordan, Michael Jordan, Joseph Jordan, and Jessica Jordan; stepchildren, Trevor Jordan, Terrell Jordan, Tracy Jordan, Melody Jordan; and additionally from her recent marriage four children and her five grandchildren. Also sharing precious memories are her four sisters, Wanda Kearney, Carrie Gamble, Annette Harden (Johnny), Vanessa Kearney of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; three brothers, Thomas Kearney, Jr., Vincent Kearney, Lenard Kearney (Beatrice); five grandchildren; a special friend, Belinda Kearney. One aunt, Charlie Mae Wright of Gifford, Florida; one uncle, Ernest Garvin of Fort Pierce, Florida. Jean had many church family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and friends who will miss her loving spirit.

Flower Attendants will be ushers and friends of the family.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Gamble; Derrick Gamble; Jason Jordan; Michael Jordan; Corey Kearney; Rashard Kearney; Vincent Kearney.
