Fred Hicks, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rudolphus Hicks, was born in Mitchell County, Georgia on February 16, 1931. He departed this life Sunday, January 4, 2026.
He joined Brown Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church at an early age. Fred attended Rockdale School where he was captain and valuable player of the basketball team. Hicks designed the mascot EAGLE where he also served as the Art Editor for the Annual Staff yearbook. Fred enlisted in the U.S. Army upon graduating high school where he was decorated with the Union Nation's Service Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Combat Infantry Badge: Korean Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Stars and Good Conduct Medal.
Returning to civilian life, Fred attended masonry school at the Vocational School in Albany, Georgia where he became a master brick mason.
He married the love of his life Constance Holiday. Upon this union two wonderful children were born, Vicki Eunette and Fred Anthony.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Vicki Hicks (Tholen Edwards), Fred Anthony (Nancy) Hicks. Grandchildren, Lacomia Wimberly (Crystal Edmonds), Anthony Kyle Hicks, Stetmond Hicks, Bristol Hicks, and Breanna Hicks; great grandchildren, Corterrious, A'Neriah, Kiara, Tristen, D'earra, and Samaria; sister-in-law, Sally Hicks; dedicated nieces, Emma Hicks Keaton, Deloris Hicks-Crim, and Sylvia D. Harvin; one special cousin, C. J. Jenkins; one adopted daughter, Alexa Catchings; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
