Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by his father, Oscar "Buck" Lawson and mother, Irene C. Lawson Farmer; one brother, Hoyt Lawson.

Mr. Lawson is survived by his wife, Inez Lawson of Doerun, Georgia; four children, Jerry (Vicky) Lawson of Albany, Georgia, Debbie (Tracy) Strachn of Jesup, Georgia, Lisa Fields of Jesup, Georgia, Gerald Lawson, Jr. of Pelham, Georgia; one sister, Doris Milliron of Hahira, Georgia; one brother, Irma (Martha) Lawson of Albany, Georgia.

He has nine grandchildren, Cruz Lawson, Avia Lawson, Lee Lawson, Elizabeth Hollard, Travis Strachn, Ashley Giovantti, Douglas "DJ Fields, Amber Lawson, Christopher Lawson; three great grandchildren, Savannah Lawson, Gage Lawson, and Ralph Giovantti.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
