Gregory West, Sr., was born October 28, 1956 in Meigs, Georgia. He attended school at Thomas County Central in Thomasville, Georgia. Early in life, he moved to Orlando, Florida. He recently moved back to Meigs, and there he spent the last four years of his life.
He died on Friday, October 16, 2015. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel West of Meigs, Georgia, and his father, John Brown of Chicago, Illinois.
Family survivors include his life partner and devoted friend, Veronica Pigler; two sons, Gregory West, Jr. and Anthony Bernard Parton; one daughter, Addie Zavala (Jay R); six grandchildren, Akyzha West, Reginald Williams, Anthony Benard Parton, Jr., Annie Parton, Dayvien Zavala, and Jayden Zavala; three brothers, Larry West, Allen West, Sr. and John F. Brown, III (Valerie); one sister, Venus DeShawn DeLoach (Glenn); and extended family: Billy Gordon, Joseph Edwards and Family, McKenzie West and Family, and Kayla West and Family. He leaves behind many nephews and nieces and a great host of cousins and friends.
