Obituary

Hattie Bell Hawkins was born on May 2, 1935 to the late Emma Crawford and John Ross, Sr.  She was the sister of seven brothers and three sisters of which five brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

She worked with her parents in the farming industry.  She later met and married Willie Lee Hawkins.  To this union eleven children were born.  Two children, Elizabeth Hawkins and Cephas Hawkins, preceded her in death.

Ms. Hattie was a very outgoing person.  She enjoyed family gathering, cooking, sewing, gardening, but most of all she enjoyed reading the word of GOD.

She was employed at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home for almost thirty years.  Her knowledge and skills allowed her to be very effective in living a life of faith touching many on the job, the home, community and church.

For many years she was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.  During the early 1960's, a desire for more of GOD inspired her to join Full Gospel Holiness Church under the leadership of the late Reverend T. B. Sapp, Jr.  On this journey she led all of her children to CHRIST leaving a spiritual legacy to everyone of them.

She served under Apostle Berry Adams of the Bible Way Revival Station of Pelham, Georgia.  For a few years, she later joined New Harvest Ministry under Bishop James E. Hamilton of Pelham, where she was faithful until her health declined.

On March 15, 2015, an angel of the Lord called her home.

She will be sorely missed by her loving husband, Willie Lee Hawkins, Sr.; two sons, Willie, Jr. (Janet) of Decatur, Georgia, Rickey N. (Valerie) of Homestead, Florida; seven daughters, Juanita Hawkins of Miami, Florida, Rose Ann (Fredrick) Thomas of Atlanta, Georgia, Brenda (Darryl) Thomas of Douglasville, Georgia, Lydia (Neal) Troutman of Pelham, Georgia, Deloris (Chris) Heath of Conyers, Georgia, Ametha Randall of Atlanta, Georgia, Bernice Hawkins of Conyers, Georgia; twenty-six grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; two brothers, Horace (Christine) Ross of Plainfield, New Jersey, John Ross of Pelham, Georgia; one sister, Alberta (Surprise) Maple of Pelham, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and sorrowing friends.

Until We Meet Again

Each morning when we awake
we know that you are gone.
And no one knows the heartache
As we try to carry on.

Our hearts still ache with sadness
and many tears still flow.
What it meant to lose you,
No one will ever know.

Our thoughts are always with you,
your place no one can fill.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we love you still.

There will always be a heartache,
and often a silent tear,
But always a precious memory
Of the days when you were here.

If tears could make a staircase,
And heartaches make a lane,
We'd walk the path to heaven
And bring you home again.

We hold you close within our hearts,
And there you will remain,
To walk with us throughout our lives
Until we meet again.

Our family chain is broken now,
And nothing will be the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.
