Obituary
She was a member of Bennett Union Missionary Baptist Church in Jesup, Goergia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eddie L. "Pap" Holsey, Sr.; a sister, Pearlie Mae Laster Dixon; and a brother, David Laster.
She departed this life on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Irene leaves to cherish her memories, a sister, Lillie Mae Bodiford of Pelham, Georgia; two daughters, Alice (James, Sr.) Gervin of Pelham, Georgia, Ruby Ann Holsey (Dennis Pittman) of Jesup, Georgia; three sons, Tommy (Carolyn) Laster, Lamar Laster (Doris Freeman) of Pelham, Georgia, Wesley (Leitha) Hicks, III of Baconton, Georgia; a grandchild she raised as her own, Jasmin (Zack) Pierre of Manassas, Virginia; a special granddaughter, Shaneka Smith of Thomasville, Georgia; two special nieces, Annie (Kenneth) Robinson of Pelham, Georgia, Tersas Laster of Albany, Georgia; a caregiver/niece, Amanda (Wiley, Jr.) Burden of Pelham, Goergia; one aunt, Ella Mae Johnson of Fort Pierce, Florida; twelve step children, Tom McElroy of Canton, Ohio, Gregory Holsey, Joyce Whitefield of Dublin, Georgia, Charlene Holsey of Brunswick, Georgia, Paul (Victoria) Holsey, Jackie R. Chatman, Jacquelin Gustave, Eddie L. Holsey, Jr., Cedric Kinsey, Dexter Sanders, Dante' Holsey of Jesup, Georgia, Gloria A. (Gene) Hudson of Mt. Dora, Florida; twenty-six grandchildren; fifty-nine great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
For those you loved
You said goodbye to none
Your spirit flew before we knew,
Your work on earth was done.
We miss you now, our hearts are sore
As time goes by, we miss you more.
Your loving smile, your gentle face:
No one can fill your vacant place.
Your life was love and labor
Your love for your family true.
You did the best for all of us
We will always remember you.
