IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Edward
Church
October 15, 1960 – September 27, 2022
James Edward Church was born in Camilla, Georgia on October 15, 1960. He was the beloved son of the late Willie James Church, Sr. and Henrietta Gilbert Church.
He received his formal education at Mitchell County High School and was a member of the class of 1979. He later attended Turner Job Corps in Albany, Georgia, where he received his GED. After leaving Turner Job Corps, James enlisted in the United States Army. James later became a truck driver for Steven's Transport and PTL, Inc. No matter what the task, he tackled each assignment with equal importance and prided himself in a job "well done."
At a very early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with the Oak Grove African Methodist Episcopal Church.
"Man", "Mister", as he was affectionately called by his wife, was a loving and gentle individual who captured the heart of all who he came in contact with.
James enjoyed being active and was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Miami Dolphins, Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Falcons. He will be deeply missed by all who dearly loved him.
James had a wonderful spirit, a mind that never ceased questioning, a fearless and adventurous spirit, and a heart that opened freely to his family and friends.
The close of life's earthly journey for James has left a void in the hearts of family and friends.
On Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at his residence, James answered the Master's call to eternal rest.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by his loving wife, Sakitha Church of Albany, Georgia; three daughters, Shunetta Rogers, Jasmine Church of Dallas, Texas, Malika Holton of Atlanta, Georgia; two sons, Cortez Holton of Atlanta, Georgia, De'Montavian Holton of Norfolk, Virginia; three grandsons; four granddaughters; a god daughter, Dekauri Tatum; mother-in-law, Diane Holton of Pelham, Georgia; three brothers, Willie James (Kim) Church of Camilla, Georgia, Wayne Jackson of Pelham, Georgia, Charles (Tawanna) Jackson of Acworth, Georgia; four sisters, Bertha Church of Norfolk, Virginia, Juanita (Kelvin) Drake of Albany, Georgia, Freda (Ernest) Davis of Camilla, Georgia, Erika Wimberly of Lawrenceville, Georgia; three brothers-in-law, Eric (Sarah) Holton of Pelham, Georgia, Steve (Deborah) Holton of Camilla, Georgia, Roderick (Tammy) Holton of Las Vegas, Nevada; aunt, Velma Marcus of Camilla, Georgia; one uncle, Theaser Gilbert, Jr. of Thomasville, Georgia; a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins .
