James Stacey Hicks was born January 12, 1969 in Mitchell County, Georgia to the late Arthur James Hicks and Matha Lee Wimberly Hicks.
He attended the public school system of Camilla, Georgia graduating with the class of 1989 at Mitchell-Baker High School. Stacey confessed CHRIST at an early age and joined Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Roland Jenkins, Jr.
Stacey, as he was affectionately called, attended Bainbridge College receiving a certification in commercial truck driving.
Over the span of forty-one years, Stacey served as a musician for the following churches: Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He also served as musician for the Mitchell County Male Chorus, the Union Meeting Women's Choir of the Camilla District of the Camilla Baptist Association. He also served as a musician for the community in various cities.
He departed this life on Thursday, December 19, 2019, at Memorial Hospital and Manor in Bainbridge, Georgia.
Those left to cherish his memories include a devoted friend, Monica Smith of Bainbridge, Georgia; three children, Ambyr Hicks of Macon, Georgia, Rondarian Ja'Quan Hicks of Nashville, Tennessee, Ja'Quez Tremaine Hicks of Cleveland, Tennessee; a sister, Karen Wimberly-Hicks of Camilla, Georgia; a bonus brother, Marvin Hicks of Camilla, Georgia; a grandson, Sevyn Ingram of Macon, Georgia; a niece, Karissa Robinson (Justin) Populus of Smyrna, Georgia; a great nephew, Carter Populus of Smyrna, Georgia.
Stacey is also survived by four uncles, Israel Eady, Sr., Willie B. Wimberly of Camilla, Georgia, George (Margie) Wimberly of Orlando, Florida, John (Joann) Wimberly of Macon, Georgia; eight aunts, Annie Ross, Lucille Hicks, Rosa Lee Hicks of Miami, Florida, Roberta Hicks, Lillie (Ronnie) Saxon, Barbara Wimberly of Camilla, Georgia, Delois Martin of Albany, Georgia, Gloria Jean Anderson of Atlanta, Georgia; other relatives and friends.
