Obituary

The funeral service of Deacon James "Ted" Johnson, will be conducted Thursday, April 9, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at Brown Chapel Church, 100 Thompson Street, Camilla. Evangelist Ida P. Eley will officiate. Interment will follow in Oakview Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Minister James Brown, Deacon Terry Burley, Sr., Eric Drakes, Deacon Robert Eley, Sr., James Gardner, Jr., Richard Gardner, Brian Jackson, Dexter Jackson, Jimmy Jackson, Brother Willie Sanders, Deacon Robert Williams, Jr., Deacon Robert Williams, Sr.

Active Pallbearers will be Marine Corps Honor Guard.

Deacon James "Ted" Johnson, was born February 13, 1943 to Mattie H. Matthews and the late Frank Johnson, Sr., in Baker County, Georgia.

He attended Rockdale School in Camilla, Georgia. He was a graduate of the class of 1962 of Camilla Consolidated High School.
After graduation, Mr. Johnson served in the United States Marines for several years.

He confessed Christ at an early age and united with the Brown Chapel Church. Later he attended Healing Temple in Camilla, Georgia. After moving to Macon, Georgia, he united with Eley's Healing Temple of Apostolic Faith.

He was united in marriage in 1971 to the former Wilma Sanders for eighteen years. She preceded him in death in 1989. To this union three children were born, Teresa, Wanda, and Arthur. In 1997, he was united in marriage to the former Betty Meredith.

Deacon Johnson was employed at the Medical Center in Macon, Georgia.

He departed this life on Friday, April 3, 2009, at his residence in Macon, Georgia.

He leaves to cherish his sweet memories, two daughters, Teresa (Terry, Sr.) Burley, Wanda Johnson (Robert "Luv) Williams of Camilla, Georgia; his mother, Mattie Matthews of Camilla, Georgia; a step-father, Charles Matthews of Camilla, Georgia; three brothers, Frank (Debra) Johnson Jr., Robert Miller of Albany, Georgia, Joe Matthews of Atlanta, Georgia; eight sisters, Janie (Wiley) Crawford, Lillie (Henderson) Johnson, Charlene (James) Gardner, Terry (Andrew) Banks of Camilla, Georgia, Marvalene Foster of Atlanta, Georgia, Sandra (Collins) Reagan, Teresa (Jeremiah) Thornton of Macon, Georgia, Rose (Anthony) Thomas of Yokosuka Japan; a daughter-in-law, Victoria Sanders of Albany, Georgia; three sisters-in-law, Rose (Robert) Childs, Vera Smith, Dorothy Sanders of Camilla, Georgia; one brother-in-law, Willie Sanders of Camilla, Georgia; two aunts, Julia W. Thomas of Adel, Georgia, Drucilla H. Mobley of Auburndale, Florida; three special friends, Deacon Robert Eley of Macon, Georgia, Robert "Bigg" Burns of Camilla, Georgia, Willie "Neenie" Jackson; three grandchildren, Tiona Burley, Terry Burley, III, Rondarrius Williams; one devoted grandson, Robert L. Williams, III; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding him in death was a son, Arthur Sanders; a sister, Cleatrice Vicks; a grandchild, Terry Burley, Jr.
