IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Franklin
Wright
October 17, 1947 – July 11, 2015
James Franklin Wright, son of the late Elijah Wright, Sr. and Jesse Torrence Wright, was born October 17, 1947 in Baker County, Georgia. Growing up, James attended Mt. Olive Methodist Episcopal Church in Newton, Georgia. He was educated in Baker County Schools and graduated in 1967. James joined the United States Army where he served for twenty years, including a tour in the Vietnam War. During his time in the Army, James received several distinguished awards. James retired from service in August, 1988. He began working at the Marine Corp Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia in April, 1989 and worked there until his passing.
James loved his family and friends and wasn't above talking about the goodness of GOD. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and baseball, which he coached. He was a true fan of race car driving as well. James was in a hunting club and was a member of the American Legion Post #518. He loved hanging out with his buddies. James was a great cook and was particularly a master at barbecuing. He did a lot of grilling during his lifetime and didn't have a problem sharing. Everyone who knew James well could attest to his generosity. Whether he was giving away fish, deer, or kennels of corns, he was a blessing to many.
James departed this life on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Mitchell County Hospital in Camilla, Georgia. He had four siblings who preceded him in death: Elijah Wright, J., Jessie Wright, Robert Quarterman, and Sheri Graham.
