Obituary

Mr. Jim Calvin Stewart, Sr., was born on March 22, 1937 to the late Harbert Stewart, Sr. and Geneva Stewart, in Mitchell County,  Georgia.

At an early age, Jim confessed Christ and united with the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.  He attended the public school.

On July 13, 1956, he was united in holy matrimony to the former Carolyn White, who preceded him in death.  To this union eight children were born.

Jim loved baseball.  In his early years, he once coached and owned a baseball team, the Hopeful Bobcats.  He worked at Hopeful Peanut and Golden Peanut for fifty plus years until he retired.  Some would call him "the peanut man."  Many would call him a hard working man.  If there was anything anyone needed to know about a peanut, they would tell you to "go ask Jimmie."

Preceding him in death was a daughter, Ann Stewart; one sister, Hazel Moore; two brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law.

Jim departed this earthly life on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at his daughter's residence in Albany, Georgia.

He leaves to cherish his memories, four daughters, Frances S. Nelson of Albany, Georgia, Brenda Williams (Lawrence) of Collinsville, Alabama, Mamie Childs of Texarkana, Texas, Sharon Stewart of Camilla, Georgia; three sons, Jim Stewart, Jr., Marty Stewart, and Calvin Stewart of Camilla, Georgia; two brothers, Harbert Stewart (Edith) and Lindsey Stewart of Camilla, Georgia; one brother-in-law, Earnest Spence of Camilla, Georgia; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; caregivers; nieces, nephews, cousins, two special friends, Diane West and Ralph Davis; and friends.

Our Father Kept A Garden

Our Father kept a garden.
A garden of the heart;
He planted all the good things,
That gave our lives their start.

He turned us to the sunshine,
And encouraged us to dream:
Fostering and nurturing
The seeds of self-esteem.

And when the winds and rain came,
He protected us enough;
But not too much because he knew
We would stand up strong and tough.

His constant good example,
Always taught us right from wrong;
Markers for our pathway that will last
a lifetime long.

We are our Fathers garden,
We are his legacy.

Thank you Dad we love you.
