Life Reflections

John Arthur Spence was born to the late Claude Spence and the late Josie Spence on September 4, 1943 in Mitchell County, Georgia.  He was raised along with five other siblings.

Bubba, as he was affectionately called, attended Rockdale School and Camilla Consolidated School.  For many years, he coached the Mitchell County Lady Tigerettes Softball team.  Not only then he coach, he also played for the Tigers Men's Team.  He was employed for several years with Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Albany, Georgia.

He was united in marriage to the former Frances Mobley, who preceded him in death.  To this union four children were born.  One daughter, Catherine Spence, preceded them in death.  He and Frances also reared three children, Bonnie (Lonzo) Ford, James Mobley (deceased) and John Mobley (deceased).

He was later united in marriage to the former Janice Wynn.  To this union two children were born.

Bubba was a fun and caring person.  He will be sorely missed --- both by his family and his many friends.  But as he rests from his life's long labor, this great husband, father, and friend should know that he has made his family proud.  The world is definitely a better place because of John Arthur "Bubba" Spence.

Also preceding him in death are two sisters, Pearl Floyd and Lula Mae Bowens; two brothers, Claude Spence, Jr., and Marvin Spence; and a devoted nephew, Michael Floyd.

On Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at 9:56 a.m., with family at his bedside, Bubba made his transition from this life to a place where there will be no more weeping but joy everlasting.

He leaves to cherish his memories a wife, Janice Spence of Camilla, Georgia; four sons, Ronald Spence of Camilla, Georgia, Jeffery (Sharolyn) Spence of Albany, Georgia, Carl Spence of Camilla, Georgia, Jason Wynn of Camilla, Georgia; three daughters, Glenda Spence (Anthony) Jackson of Camilla, Georgia, LaShonda Davis of Camilla, Georgia, Jantoria Wynn of Camilla, Georgia; a sister, Margaret (James) Lars of Indianapolis, Indiana; a brother, Cecil (Charvette) Walker of Pelham, Georgia; step-daughter, Bonnie (Lonzo) Ford of Milledgeville, Georgia; a mother-in-law, Katie Wynn of Camilla, Georgia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Asbury Floyd of Clermont, Florida, Barbara (James) Logan of Sumter, South Carolina, Mollie Wynn, Katie Wynn, Jimmy Wynn, Clifford (Exa) Wynn, Deborah Hopkins, Freddie (Teresa) Williams, Ella Williams, Jeanette Williams, Stephon Williams, Anthony Williams, Eugene (Susie) Mobley, Bernice Mobley of Camilla, Georgia, Willie (Annie Lee) Mobley of Atlanta, Georgia, Robert Mobley of Auburndale, Florida, Annie (Charles) Smith, Wayne (Raslayn) Williams of Pelham, Georgia, Linward Wynn of Meigs, Georgia, Sholanda (Chester) Smith of Thomasville, Georgia, Walter Lincey of Jacksonville, Florida; an aunt, Brenda Williams of Pelham, Georgia; twelve grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is Gone

You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on,
You can cry and close your mind be empty and turn your back,
Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
