John Henry Florence, son of the late Russell Florence, Sr. and Cora Williams Florence, was born March 28, 1936 in Mitchell County, Georgia.

John Henry attended school at Rockdale High School in Camilla, Georgia.

He was united in marriage to the former Janet Moody, who preceded him in death.

He was also united in marriage to Annie G. Kelson-Simpson, who also preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Aaron Florence, Abraham Florence, David Florence, Jimmy Florence, Russell Florence; two sisters, Jeanette Florence, Mollie Bush.

John Henry departed this life on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Select Specialty Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida.

Survivors include three sons, John M. Florence, Sr. of Alabama, Darrell L. Florence of Georgia, Gregory (Greg) Florence, Sr., of Alabama; two daughters, Corene Florence and Cleveland Hunt of Georgia; grandchildren, Patrice Branch of Alabama, Nikerria Bently of Georgia, Gregory Florence, Jr. of Alabama, John M. Florence, Jr. of New Jersey, Michael Goss of Texas; a host of great grandchildren; five sisters, Emma L. Estiverne of Georgia, Ethel B. Wilkins of New Jersey, Annette Sweet of Florida; a brother, Cecil Florence of Georgia; cousin and friend, Albert J. Florence, Sr. of Georgia; in-laws, Janet Stove Florence of New Jersey, Voncile Maples Florence of Georgia; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
