The funeral service of John Arthur (Tippy) Hicks will be conducted Saturday, September 12, at 1:00 p.m., at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 8825 River Road, Camilla. Reverend Jermaine King will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
John Arthur Hicks was born on October 17, 1936 to the late Busy and Ella Mae Hicks of Pelham, Georgia.
At an early age, he confessed to Christ and joined Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
He was united in holy matrimony to Mary Helen Jackson, who preceded him in death.
He departed this life Monday, September 7, 2009 at Mitchell County Hospital.
John was preceded in death by his devoted brother, Robert Hicks.
He leaves to cherish his memory six children: Rondy (Tawana) Hicks of Camilla, Georgia, Antonio Hicks of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jeffery (Jacqui) Hicks of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Marilyn (Sylvester) Bowers of Pelham, Georgia, Shanna (Christopher) Jones of Jacksonville, Florida, and Terry Moody of Savannah, Georgia; two sisters: Earnestine (Nazoma) Thomas of Baconton, Georgia, and Evelyn (Johnny) Walker of Blountstown, Florida; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces; nephews; other family members and friends that he loved as family.
