Obituary

Deacon Johnny Lewis King, Sr. was born to the late Charlie King and Alice Lyons King on March 16, 1924.

He was educated in the school system of Baker County, Georgia.  He joined the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age where he served on the Deacon Board for over seventy years.

On January 24, 1948, Deacon King was united in holy matrimony to the former Rosa B. Hicks, who preceded him in death.  To this union seven children were born.

He departed this life on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Mitchell County Convalescent Center.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a child, Robert Douglas King, four sisters and three brothers.

His legacy will continue with his four sons, Artie (Betty) Davis, Calvin King, Reverend Jermaine (Eritrea) King of Camilla, Georgia, Johnny (Dr. Gloria) King of Albany, Georgia; three daughters, Rose (Sherman) Harrell of Miami, Florida, Claretha (D.K.) Grissom of Camilla, Georgia, Liz (Dr. Ramon) Johnson of Warner Robins, Georgia; a devoted daughter-in-law, Estella (Dr. Jimmy) Bryant of Miami, Florida; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Daisy Robinson of Savannah, Georgia, Alice Jackson of Quitman, Georgia; one brother, Lenwood (Minnie) King of Camilla, Georgia; four sisters-in-law, Annie (Roscoe) Ross, Lucille Hicks, Rosa Hicks of Miami, Florida, Roberta Hicks of Camilla, Georgia; two brothers-in-law, Arthur (Matha) Hicks, Isreal Eady, Sr. of Camilla, Georgia; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.





God Took Him To His Loving Home

God saw him getting tired, a cure was not to be.
He wrapped him in his loving arms and whispered 'Come with me.'
He suffered much in silence, his spirit did not bend.
He faced his pain with courage, until the very end.
He tried so hard to stay with us but his fight was not in vain,
God took him to His loving home and freed him from the pain.
