Julia Mae Burley, a beloved member of the Camilla, Georgia community, passed away peacefully at her residence on March 30, 2026. Born on March 28, 1949, in Camilla, she lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and a deep love for those around her.

Julia was a graduate of Camilla Consolidated High School and devoted much of her working years to serving others. She worked at Darwood Manufacturing in Camilla until her retirement, and also lent her care and compassion as a dietary aide at Mitchell County Hospital. Her commitment to her work reflected the generous spirit that defined her character.

Known for her warm and welcoming nature, Julia had an innate ability to make others feel at ease. Her great sense of humor brought joy and laughter to many, and she was always eager to share a smile or a kind word. Her love of people was evident in everything she did, and she especially cherished spending time with her family during the holidays, creating memories that will be treasured for years to come. Julia was also known for her love of listening to church music, which provided her comfort and inspiration.

Julia was a proud member of Saint Mary Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith was a guiding force in her life. She carried herself with grace and humility, reflecting the values in which she firmly believed.

She was the daughter of Bernice Haynes and the late Bennie Wimes. Julia is survived by her devoted daughter, Tracy Burley of Camilla, Georgia, and her cherished grandson, Trevion Knight. She is also remembered with love by her former spouse, Joe Nathan "Pee Wee" Burley; her mother, Bernice Haynes, and her siblings: sisters, Christine Bell, Gloria (James) Silas, Hattie (Spencer) Drake, Willie Mae Jackson, Vera Haynes, Laura (Ezekiel) Whitfield, Vera Wimes; and brother, Willie (Arradine) Jackson; seven sisters-in-law, Martha Herbin, Annie Mae Gilbert, Janice (Willie) Cadenhead, Gloria (Frederick) Pruitt, Teresa Cole, Roberta Hicks, Jeannette Williams; two brothers-in-law, Colonel Marcus, Ozzie Marcus

Her family extends to numerous nieces and nephews who held her in great affection. Julia was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Jackson.

Julia Mae Burley’s life was a testament to kindness, faith, and family. Her passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt, but her legacy of love and warmth will endure in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be remembered as a woman who welcomed life with open arms and an open heart.
