Obituary

The funeral service of Julia Butler, will be conducted Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., at First Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Newton. Reverend Jerome Pace will officiate. Interment will follow in Oakview Cemetery.

Julia Butler was born in Mitchell County, Georgia, on November 8, 1950 to Gillis Butler and Sadie Butler.

She grew up in Camilla, Georgia and attended school at Camilla Consolidated High School. In 1973, she moved to Newton, Georgia. She recently moved to Albany, Georgia, where she passed away at her home on Tuesday, May 26, 2009.

Julia was widely known for her great sense of humor and her ability to be herself. She will be sorely missed by her friends and family.

Preceding her in death included two grandsons, Jermaine Butler and Embrell Butler; a brother, Eugene Butler; and a sister, Drucilla Johnson.

She leaves to mourn her passing, three daughters, Tina Scott of Moultrie, Georgia, Annie (Earl) Drakes, Sr. of Camilla, Georgia, Shana Hawkins of Albany, Georgia; one son, Lee Butler of Valdosta, Georgia; eleven grandchildren; two brothers, Fate Williams of Cleveland, Ohio, Adolph (Delois) Butler of Camilla, Georgia; two sisters, Ruby Cooper of Cleveland, Ohio, Lula (Clarence) Brown of Leesburg, Georgia.

Also left to mourn her death is a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
