The funeral service of Kenneth Thomas, will be conducted Saturday, January 31, 2009, at 12:00 noon, at Greater Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 1345 Highway 311, Camilla. Reverend James Turner will officiate. Interment will follow in Oakview Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Norris Akins, Calvin Bowens, Thomas Gaines, Chris Harris, Dez McNair, Bernard Slappey.
Active Pallbearers will be Michael Bush, Andrew Gaines, Gregory Gaines, Wilbert Hines, Willie Hines, Deacon Marvin Smith.
Kenneth Thomas, son of Ruby Thomas and James Thomas, was born September 3, 1965 in Mitchell County, Georgia.
He attended Mitchell-Baker High School graduating with the class of 1983.
He confessed Christ and united with the Greater St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church where he was an active member. At Greater St. Mark, he was a member of the Men's Ministry and the Male Usher Board.
"Malt", as he was affectionately called, was an Assistant Manager at Grocery Outlet in Bainbridge, Georgia.
Kenney's friendly nature allowed him to know and become a friend of many. He never met a stranger.
Preceding him in death included three brothers, Charlie Thomas, Joe Thomas, Murray Thomas; one sister, Essie Cochran.
He was called to rest on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge, Georgia.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, a very loving wife, Felicia Thomas of Bainbridge, Georgia; two step-daughters, Trellace Scott and Jacquelyn "TuTu" Screen of Bainbridge, Georgia; his mother, Ruby Thomas of Camilla, Georgia; his father, James Thomas of Camilla, Georgia; four brothers, Benjamin Thomas and Curtis Thomas of Camilla, Georgia, Harry (Jackie) Thomas of Albany, Georgia, Larry (Vernita) Thomas of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters, Bertha (Willie) Hines, Eva (Henry) Smith of Camilla, Georgia; a mother-in-law, Jacqueline Smalls of Bainbridge, Georgia; four sisters-in-law, Karrell (Michael) Bush, Natalie Redding, Bernadine Slappey of Bainbridge, Georgia, Cathy Slappey of Tallahassee, Florida; one brother-in-law, Bernard Slappey of Bainbridge, Georgia; grandchildren, Nakya Faison and Keon Faison of Bainbridge, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be at the Robert Jester Mortuary on Friday, January 30, 2009, at 4:00 p.m.
