Obituary

Leola Jackson McQueen was the seventh child born on July 19,1946 in Hopeful Community – Mitchell County, Georgia, to the late Benjamin Jackson, Sr. and the late Hurlie Mae Florence Jackson.

She was educated at the Oak Grove School and Mitchell County Schools. At an early age she confessed CHRIST and united with the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Hopeful under the leadership of Rev. P.S. Sparks. She served faithfully on the Senior Usher Board where she once presided as President. She was also one of the Mothers of the Church.

She was employed at Darwood Manufacturing, Georgia Peanut Association, Charles Lodge Farms and Worsham Farms.

In 1993 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Ezra McQueen, who preceded her in death. They were married for twelve years before his untimely demise.

In addition to her husband and her parents, Leola is preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline Renee Jackson, one grandson, Bryant Chenault, her daughter-in-love, Marchelle Jackson; brothers, Edward Jackson, Nehemiah Jackson, and Benjamin Jackson, Jr.; sisters, Lorene Jackson, Ophelia Donaldson, Bernice Wimberly, Shirley Willingham, and Geneva Emanuel.

She is left to cherish her memories; One son, Leon Jackson, Sr. of Jonesboro, Georgia; two daughters, Bridgette Jackson of Baconton, Georgia and Lisa (Nathaniel) Byron of Jonesboro, Georgia. six grandchildren, Martez "Brandon" Myrick and Leon (Brittany) Jackson, Jr. all of Atlanta, Georgia. Nicholas (Ashley) Peoples of Alexandria, Virginia, Brian Peoples of San Antonio, Texas and Jacqueline Lewis and Narayana Byron of Adel, Georgia; sixteen great-grandchildren; five sisters,  Bonnie Moore, Helen (Stacey Lanetta) Jackson, Barbara (Charles) Crump, Glenda Marcus, and Tanzie Douglas, all of Camilla, Georgia; one brother, Corneilus Jackson, Sr. of Camilla. Georgia; four bonus sons whom she raised, John Bailey, III of Atlanta, Georgia,  Zachary (Letrone) Bailey of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Elijah Epps of Talbotton, Georgia, Martin Kentrell Atkins of Pelham, Georgia; five bonus daughters, Teresa Jones, Trenise Sanders, April Allen, Mistry Thomas, Dorothy McCray, and Sherry Sanders; a special caregiver, Babette Willingham, Pelham, Georgia; four special first cousins who were like her brother and sisters: Roy Jackson, Geraldine Wimberly, Alfredia Harris and Scarlette Wimberly; special friends: Wilhelmina Atkins, William Cooper, Bertha Cobb, Alonzo Singleton, Doretha Moore, Yetta Sanders, and Dorothy Bentley; a  host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
