Obituary

Leslie Renate Williams-Knight was born June 12, 1963 in Camilla, Georgia.  She was the second of six children born to Charlie J. Williams and Eleanor Ruth Dawson Williams.

"Renee" accepted CHRIST at an early age and united with the Brown Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.  She later became a member of the Open Door Church of Praise.  Her last church affiliation was at Ebenezer Christian Center where she was a part of the Women's Ministry, Hospitality Committee, Drama & Praise Dance Team, and Singles Ministry.  Renee used her singing voice by being a junior choir member at Brown Chapel CME Church, the Union Singers at Greater Union Baptist Church, and the Voices of Love at Open Door Church of Praise.

Renee loved God and she had a passion for family, good times and fun.  She had a zeal for life and what life had to offer.  When asked what would most be remembered about Renee, the response will always be her contagious smile.  She had a sense of humor that her family all had experienced.  She was an awesome baker and especially enjoyed preparing desserts for her family and friends.

Renee attended Mitchell County High School where she played Junior High Basketball, high school gymnastic team, high school cheerleader.  She graduated from MCHS in 1981.  She continued her education at Albany Junior College with an associate in Business Administration.  She furthered her studies at Georgia Southwestern State College in Americus, Georgia.

Renee's employment history included a teacher at Mitchell-Baker Head Start, Walmart, and Dougherty County Department of Family and Children Services.

Renee was a very perceptive, good natured and generous person who was a joy to be around.  Her heart was filled with love and compassion and her family meant the world to her.  To know her was to love her and respect her.  The strong bonds of friendship and family ties that were so important to her will forever be cherished and remembered by all whom she dearly loved.

She was united in marriage to Michael Knight.  From this union two children were born, Myia and Michael.

On Wednesday, October 25, 2023, Renee answered the final call and she transitioned from this earthly life to life everlasting.

Renee leaves in celebration of her life three children, Myia (Philanté) Sanders, Michael Knight, Melanie Maxwell; her mother, Eleanor Ruth Williams; her father, Charlie J. Williams; one sister, Lolica (Patrick) Williams; four brothers, Trent (Pamela) Williams, Terrance (Keisha) Williams, Travis (Ericca) Williams, Torrey (Shanicie) Williams; seven grandchildren, Philante, Jr. (PJ), Jaliyah, Kalyn, Brenton, Bryson, Gabrielle (Gabby), and Kennedi; two aunts, Mary Lou (Frank) Morman, Pineese Williams; two uncles, John Williams, Patrick Logan; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
