Obituary

Lillie Ida Graham Crawford was born on July 2, 1923 in Camilla, Georgia to the late Benjamin Graham and Lillie Graham.  She was raised in Camilla along with her ten siblings.

During her childhood, she attended Hall Missionary Baptist Church.  It was there that she received her schooling, received an understanding of Christianity, and accepted Jesus Christ.

Later in life, she met and fell in love with John Henry Crawford.  The two were married in 1940 and increased their family with thirteen children.

Lillie Ida Graham Crawford was well known and respected in the Mitchell County community.  Neighbors and friends knew her as a trustworthy woman, and the family recognized her as the thread that wove them together in love.  While she had many hobbies which included cooking, sewing, watching Days of Our Lives, and listening to music, she enjoyed her family the most.

On July 9, 2015, one week after celebrating her 92nd birthday, Lillie Ida Crawford Graham heard the call of the Lord.  Surrounded by family members, she answered the call and transitioned to her heavenly home.  Understanding that to be "absent from the body is to be with the Lord," we know that she is now free from pain, sorrow, sin, and death.  Indeed, she has received her wings!

Lillie Ida Graham Crawford was preceded in death by her parents; three children, Emma Jewel Crawford, Lessie Mae Wesley, and Andrew Lamar Crawford; three sisters, Janie Peoples, Hannah Crittle, and Lessie Graham; and five brothers, Benjamin Graham, Jr., Shelton Graham, Tobie Graham, Samuel Graham, and Willie B. Graham.

Lillie Ida Graham Crawford leaves to cherish her memories, her sisters, Mary Macon and Sarah Willingham; children, Ida Lumpkin (Joe), John Crawford, Lucille Silas, Betty Jackson (Johnny), Gwendolyn Dixon (Charlie), Vera Price (George), Charles Crawford (Brenda), Nelson Crawford, Ray Crawford, Lillie Knight (Johnny), and a host of other relatives including forty-three grandchildren; fifty-four great grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren; cousins; nieces; nephews; and friends.

You can only have one mother
Patient kind and true;
No other friend in all the world,
Will be the same to you.

When other friends forsake you,
To mother you will return,
For all her loving kindness,
She asks nothing in return.

As we look upon her picture,
Sweet memories we recall,
Of a face so full of sunshine,
And a smile for one and all.

Sweet Jesus, take this message,
To our dear mother up above;
Tell her how we miss her,
And give her all our love.
