IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louise Jean
Mcghee
April 16, 1947 – July 3, 2023
On Monday, July 3, 2023, Louise "Jean" McGhee completed her assignment here. She transcended to light after a life well lived.
April 16, 1947, Louise was born in Early County to the late Lewis "Po Boy" and Doris Means.
Jean accepted CHRIST at an early age and remained a faithful member of St. James C.M.E. Church until her passing.
She received her education in the Early County School System.
Jean was married to James McGhee (d.2009) in 1968. Never a stranger to hard work, she retired from the VA Medical Center in New Jersey where she was a Newark native until 2019 before moving back to her hometown of Damascus, Georgia.
Jean found a renewed love of family, friends and life.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Charles McGhee (Zandra); a daughter, Anna Alexander; a stepson, James Jones and stepdaughter, Ranada Jones ( who preceded her in death). Nine sisters (four preceded her in death: Martha Means, Dorothy Means, Mary Dunbar and Patricia Moore); Ara Bell Latney, LaVerna Hawkins (Odell), Emma Wright, Diana Mathis and Carolyn Lee (Perry); four brothers, Vincent Means (Debra), Robert Means (Barbara), Wayne Means (Sebrina) and Lewis Moore; a host of great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, all whom are near and dear to her heart.
