IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mae Frances
Johnson
November 18, 1959 – December 28, 2025
Born on November 18, 1959, in Mitchell County, Georgia, Mae Frances Johnson, affectionately known as Frances, passed away on December 28, 2025, at Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge, Georgia. Frances lived a life dedicated to service, family, and her unwavering faith.
Frances devoted much of her professional career to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Mitchell County Hospital. Her compassionate nature shone brightly in every interaction, embodying the essence of kindness and empathy. Through her work, she touched the lives of countless individuals, always placing the needs of others above her own.
An alumna of the Mitchell County School, graduating with the class of 1978, Frances pursued her passions further by attending Darton College, where she earned an associate degree in Fashion Designing. This educational journey reflected her straightforward and truthful personality, which served as a guiding light to those who knew her. Frances formed deep connections through her genuine nature, leaving an indelible impact on her friends and colleagues.
As a mother, Frances was incredibly supportive of her son, Montoya Johnson. She played an instrumental role in his academic journey, guiding him in achieving not only one but two degrees, including a Master's Degree. Her pride extended beyond her immediate family; she found immense joy in witnessing the achievements of her first grandchild, Maddison Johnson, whose accomplishments brought her great happiness.
Frances' faith was an integral part of her life. At an early age, she confessed CHRIST and became a faithful and dedicated member of the Saint Mary Missionary Baptist Church. There, she participated in several singing groups, sharing her love of music with the community. Frances was a cherished member of her church choir, the Baconton Community Choir, the South Georgia Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Patrick Lundy & The Ministers of Music Georgia Connection. Her heartfelt renditions of songs such as "God Is Keeping Me," "Through The Years," and "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow" exemplified her vibrant spirit and profound faith. While in high school, Frances organized a group named the Traveling Stars. Along with Frances, this group included classmates, Cassandra Baines Arnold, Sharon Ross, Lillie Mae Shilow, and Ronald Spence as the musician.
Frances' interests were diverse and enriched her life in various ways. She enjoyed traveling and indulging in her love for seafood, aspects of her life that contributed to her zest for living.
She is survived by her beloved son, Montoya Johnson; granddaughter, Maddison Johnson; sister, Dorothy Johnson; brothers, Charles (Annie Kate) Johnson and Jimmy (Joann) Johnson; and sister, Ollie Lee. Frances' legacy of love, faith, and compassion will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we remember Frances, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by unwavering devotion to family, community, and her faith.
