Mamie was a woman who enjoyed life in ways that were lively and unmistakably her own.

Mamie Brown, a daughter of Camilla, Georgia, was born on January 20, 1938, in Camilla and departed this life on September 24, 2026, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Her life stretched across generations and was marked by warmth, conversation, humor, and the familiar joys that make a home and a family feel complete.

She graduated with the Class of 1959 from Camilla Consolidated School, a milestone that remained part of the story of her life. In 1963, she was united in marriage to Charlie Brown, and to this union two children were born. She also fellowshipped with Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, carrying with her a spirit of connection and fellowship.

Mamie was a woman who enjoyed life in ways that were lively and unmistakably her own. She liked to crack jokes and was talkative, bringing energy and laughter into the company she kept. She liked to dance and loved music, and she found happiness in simple pleasures such as walking, cooking, and working puzzle books. She liked to travel, enjoyed slot machines, and had a fondness for flowers, all of which added color and delight to the life she lived.

Her memory will be cherished by those who remain to carry her love forward. She is survived by her children, Jeffery Williams of Camilla, Georgia, Charles Brown of Hampton, Virginia, and Shinita Brown of Camilla, Georgia. She is also survived by her sisters, Angela Banks of Camilla, Georgia, and Hurlaine Berryhill (Timothy) of New Orleans, Louisiana; her brothers, Wallace Williams of Camilla, Georgia, and Terry Williams (Dorothy) of Levittown, Pennsylvania; and the many loved ones whose lives were brightened by her presence and her enduring spirit.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Brown, and by her parents, Willie Williams and Bertha Williams.

Mamie Brown will be remembered for the joy she brought into ordinary moments; for the jokes she shared, the music she enjoyed, the meals she prepared, and the easy conversation that made people feel welcome around her. Her life leaves behind a lasting and tender memory in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
