Mamie C. Cornelius was born in Camilla, Georgia to the late Reverend W.F. Johnson, Sr. and Emma Lula Scurry Johnson on June 23, 1914.

She received her elementary school education at Camilla Elementary School and graduated from Camilla High School. She attended Albany State College. She spent her entire life caring for others in the nursing field.

She was married to Deacon Milton Carl Cornelius for 37 years until his death in 1977.

She joined Ebenezer Baptist Church on May 29 1940. She was in the Janie B. Lowe Circle, Alberta Williams King Choir, June Month Club Member.

She departed this life on Thursday April 16, 2009.

She leaves to treasure her legacy seven nieces, Dr. Gloria Hilton, Gwen Elaine Moten, Beaulah Moten-Green, Patricia M. Graham, Glynis Johnson, Mary Reed, and Doris Johnson Greene; four nephews, Bishop F. Josephus Johnson, Frankie Johnson, Scott Johnson and Leon Johnson; a loving brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mark Cornelius and Paula Cornelius; sisters-in-law, Ethel Cornelius and Annie Ruth Campbell; a host of other relatives and friends.
