The funeral service of Margrine Revis will be conducted Saturday, August 7, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at Thankful Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Wadis Williams will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons of Thankful Missionary Baptist Church.
Active Pallbearers will be Reginald Berry, Kemel Clark, Johnny Denson, Akeen Drummond, Kaniel Revis, Kerel Revis.
Margrine Thomas Revis of Newton Georgia was called home on August 3, 2010. She was born November 14, 1931 to Washington and Pearlie Thomas of Camilla, Georgia. Her surviving siblings of this union are Ellen Hallbank and Leevesta Thomas. Preceding her in death are Washington, Jr., Jessie, Bertha Rucker and Harvey. Her mother passed when she was young, leaving her to be raised by her older siblings.
Margrine graduated from Rockdale High School in 1949 and went on to attend Fort Valley State University and later Albany State University, graduating in 1967 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She taught school in Baker County until her retirement in 1996. She was baptized at a young age while attending Union Baptist Church in Camilla, Georgia. After marriage, she joined Thankful Baptist Church in Newton, Georgia, where she served faithfully in many roles including Deaconess, Sunday school teacher, choir, and 2nd District Youth Leader and many more. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Margrine enjoyed sewing, baking and reading. She found joy in spending quality time with her family as well as many people in her community and church.
Margrine is survived by her husband of 58 years, Cornelius Water Revis, II, six children, Silvana Jenkins (Harold) of Camilla, Georgia, Amelia Kay Clark (Curtis) of Atlanta, Georgia, Anthony Revis(Linda) of Freeland, Michigan, Kim Drummond (Earl) of Wheatley Heights, New York, John K. Revis (Sonji Lynn) of Lansing, Michigan, Timothy Revis of Newton, Georgia; 10 beloved grandchildren, Kerel, Maria, Prikenya, Krisica, Shakis, Ariana, Kaniel, Akeen, Kemel, Keyondra; one great grandchild, Amari; three loving sisters-in-law, Toy Whittaker, Rita North, Alice Revis and a host of close relatives and friends. Margrine is preceded in death by her first-born Cornelius Walter Revis, III her mother-in-law Polly Ann Revis Gilbert and two dear sisters-in-law, Emma Jean Berry and Dreamy Revis.
Margrine lived for Christ, was a devoted wife and raised her children to love the Lord. In death, she is now united with Christ, leaving behind memories to be cherished by her husband and a godly path for all to follow.
